Small General Firm serviceSt. Lawrence Gas has seven classes of service, with different rates for each class of service. Small General Firm service is classified as Service Classification No. 2. Examples of this category of customer might include a restaurant, dry cleaners, convenience store, gas station, and so on. “Firm” service means that St. Lawrence Gas is supplying an uninterrupted supply of gas, as the customer requires it. Small General Firm service is any application that is non-residential, or service to a residence where more than 25% of the cubic space is being used for business purposes. The complete definition of Small General Firm service is in the St. Lawrence Gas Tariff, P.S.C. No. 2 – Gas, Leaf No. 50. Follow these steps for gas serviceIf you wish to change the gas service to your company name, you can sign-up for service on our website. If you are requesting a new gas line to be installed, you will be asked to sign all the appropriate paperwork, including a Load Sheet that identifies the amount of natural gas you will require. You may be asked to also provide information about your equipment, hours of operation, and hours of peak usage. Your service line is normally installed within five weeks during our construction season (May – October). Before your Commercial natural gas service can be used, follow the steps below:

The unit of measure for the cost is a therm. One therm is equivalent to 100,000 British Thermal Units (BTUs). One BTU is the amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit.
Large General Firm serviceSt. Lawrence Gas has seven classes of service, with different rates for each class of service. Large General Firm service is classified as Service Classification no. 3. Typically, customers in this category are industrial companies. “Firm” service means that St. Lawrence Gas is supplying an uninterrupted supply of gas, as the customer requires it. To qualify under this service classification, the customer must contract to use a minimum of 200 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) per day and 365,000 therms per year. All delivery of gas is at one location through a meter capable of recording daily consumption and electronically transmitting such daily recording to the Company. Classifications of Interruptible ServiceInterruptible ServiceSt. Lawrence Gas has seven classes of service, with different rates for each class of service. Interruptible service is classified as Service Classification No. 4. Interruptible customers usually pay the lowest rates for gas. In return, however, interruptible customers must have the ability to switch to an alternative fuel (e.g. #6 oil) at the Company’s request, when there is a high demand for gas by other customers, usually in the coldest periods of the year. These customers must contract to use a minimum of 200 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) per day and 250,000 therms per year. The Company, in its sole discretion, acting reasonably, shall determine the volume of interruptible gas which it shall have available under this service classification. Monthly Average Day Interruptible Transportation ServiceSt. Lawrence Gas has seven classes of service, with different rates for each class of service. Monthly Average Day Interruptible Transportation service is classified as Service Classification No. 4A. This category of customer must meet the requirements for interruptible service and agree to contract to use not less than 15,000 therms, and an annual volume of not less than 1,500,000 therms, and who will agree to deliver gas to the Company at the customer’s monthly average daily rate of consumption, including during periods of curtailment or interruption of service ordered by the Company. Interruptible Transportation Service – Individually Negotiated AgreementsSt. Lawrence Gas has seven classes of service, with different rates for each class of service. Interruptible Transportation Service - Individually Negotiated Agreements, is classified as Service Classification No. 5. This category of customer includes cogeneration facilities (as defined in the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act or the Public Service Law) or any other customer who qualifies for an individually negotiated agreement, and must have contracted to purchase gas from an alternate source and must have complete standby equipment and a supply of fuel for such equipment available to use in the event of curtailment or interruption of service. The customer must have a load in excess of 2 billion cubic feet per year. The Company must have facilities available to handle this load. Interruptible Transportation Service for Generators of ElectricitySt. Lawrence Gas has seven classes of service, with different rates for each class of service. Interruptible Transportation Service for Generators of Electricity, is classified as Service Classification No. 9. This service classification is for transportation of customer-owned gas to dual fueled facilities where such gas will be used in the production of electricity in generators having an electrical output capacity greater than fifty (50) megawatts (MW). Service under this service classification shall be interruptible for up to 720 hours per year. If the company is not able to reliably provide at least 335 days of firm transportation service, service may be interrupted more than 720 hours.
