A few facts about Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas (“St. Lawrence Gas”) as we begin our 50th anniversary celebration.
Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas (“St. Lawrence Gas”) was incorporated in 1957 and served its first natural gas customer in 1962. With assets of more than $40 million, the company provides natural gas to approximately 14,000 residential customers, 1,700 commercial customers and 24 industrial customers.
St. Lawrence Gas employs 46 employees at its headquarters in Massena, NY and satellite office in Ogdensburg. The work force is highly trained with over 920 hundred years of collective experience in the natural gas industry.
As a regulated public utility, in the business of selling and transporting natural gas to its customers, the company provides service to the cities, towns and villages of Beaver Falls, Canton, Croghan, Gouverneur, Heuvelton, Lisbon, Madrid, Massena, New Bremen, Norfolk, Norwood, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Raymondville and Waddington.
The Company has installed more than 572 miles of main and service lines within a service territory approximately 800 square miles across Northern New York. Over 90% of the business and residential customers located within the company’s service territory have selected natural gas as their fuel of choice.
The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Enbridge Gas Distribution is Canada’s largest gas distribution utility and one of the fastest growing in North America. Enbridge Gas Distribution and its affiliates serve about 2 million customers in central and eastern Ontario, southwestern Quebec and parts of northern New York State. Delivering energy for over 160 years, Enbridge Gas Distribution added more than 40,000 new customers in 2010.
