Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas Completes Its Natural Gas Transmission Line into Franklin County

MASSENA NY: On Friday, July 3, 2015, Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas completed its 48-mile natural gas transmission line that will provide service to residents and businesses in northern Franklin County.

An eight inch section of the pipeline was installed under the Little Salmon River in the Town of Brushton, NY, and was connected to the existing pipeline which completes the transmission line portion of the project. Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas started the process of conditioning the pipeline for natural gas transmission and expects to make natural gas service available to the Agri-Mark McCadam plant by the end of July. Agri-Mark McCadam will be the first customer connected to the natural gas system in Franklin County.

The New York State Correctional Facilities and Alice Hyde Campus, as well as several residential and commercial customers including school systems in Malone, Chateuagay, and Brushton will have natural gas service made available to them over the next few months as the distribution systems are brought into service.

“Natural gas will soon be flowing for the first time ever in previously unserved sections of northern New York State,” said James Ward, General Manager, of Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas. “Providing natural gas service from our new line to Franklin County residents and businesses is a great milestone for our company and for the entire North Country. Residents and businesses along the pipeline path will begin to realize the benefits of natural gas and now have an economic and environmentally desirable fuel choice,” Ward said.

New customers that have had natural gas lines installed to their homes and businesses will receive a yellow door hanger that will notify them that they can now make arrangements with their contractor to complete any work necessary and then call Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas to schedule the installation of a natural gas meter and have their natural gas service turned on.
