St. Lawrence Gas Company, Inc. Files Plan with New York State Public Service Commission

Massena, NEW YORK–(February 27, 2018) – Editor’s Note: There is a map associated with this press
release.
St. Lawrence Gas Company, Inc. (the Company) filed an application to the New York State Public Service
Commission yesterday requesting approval to extend the development period for the natural gas
expansion project into Franklin County an additional 15 years. The extension would allow the Company to
continue to build the distribution system and provide bill reductions for all customers in the expansion
area. If approved by the Public Service Commission, typical residential customers would see an annual
bill reduction of 10.4 percent, typical commercial customers would receive an annual reduction of 10.1
percent, and typical industrial customers an annual reduction of 8.7 percent.
“Through the joint efforts of the local community, employers, elected officials and St. Lawrence Gas,
access to natural gas became a reality in 2013 for homes and businesses when a project to extend
natural gas from the Town of Norfolk to the Village of Chateaugay in Franklin County was undertaken,”
explained Gilles Volpé, General Manager of St. Lawrence Gas Company, Inc.
By the end of 2016, more than $50 million has been invested in the community. The expanded
transmission line is now fully installed and customers are receiving natural gas service.
Despite the unforeseen challenges during the construction period of the project, including drilling issues
and difficult ground conditions, the Company believes the positive impact on consumer costs and the
ability to add more natural gas customers in the coming months and years will in turn benefit the local
economy.

“We seek to manage our recovery of the additional costs incurred during construction, to bring natural gas
to more customers, and to simultaneously reduce bills for all customers in the expansion area,” said
Volpé. “The investment will permanently and positively impact the local economy and help secure the
future economic vitality of the region,”
